Long Beach, California was home to two exciting filtration related events at the start of 2017. The AWWA’s Membrane Technology Conference & Exhibition was an exciting gathering space for engineers, operators, and OEM’s working at the forefront of membrane applications. The Forsta booth provided an excellent meeting ground for the important discussion of reliable membrane prefiltration. Themes of conversations with Forsta at AMTA this year included; filtration at low pressures (15-20psi), filtration efficiency with organic material, variability in filter orientation, material selection and more.

Long Beach was also the host city this year for the 4th Annual Ballast Water Management Summit. At the summit this year, Forsta Director of Sales, Polly Stenberg presented to a group of key regulators, ship owners and operators, shipbuilders, engineers, water treatment specialists, marine equipment suppliers etc. on the subject of corrosion resistance in automatic screen filtration. The presentation demonstrated how Forsta has utilized Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) and high grade stainless alloys to minimize corrosion resistance in saline lake beds, shipboard reverse osmosis desalination, plant desalination and produced water applications. The presentation generated an enormous interest for the inclusion of such techniques in the production and certification of Ballast Water Management Systems for compliance with new IMO regulation and USCG standards effective September, 2017.
